About Us
Lakewood's nonprofit economic development organization, Lakewood Community Progress Inc (LCPI), was founded by the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Lakewood and secured its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in 2004. In 2008, LCPI merged with LakewoodAlive, a resident-based organization that was founded to advocate citizen engagement in economic development issues. The merger broadened the capacity of both organizations to promote economic development and improve the quality of life in Lakewood.
A National Main Street™ community since 2005, the revitalization of downtown Lakewood continues as the focus of LakewoodAlive’s activity. In recognition of housing quality as Lakewood’s economic lynchpin, LakewoodAlive launched a housing outreach program in 2009. Funded with Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) dollars, this program connects low-moderate income residents with financial and practical resources to maintain the exterior of their homes.
LakewoodAlive is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Heritage Ohio, which is the oversight organization for the Ohio Main Street program. LakewoodAlive is also a member of Positively Cleveland, Northeast Ohio’s tourism and meeting promotional organization.
