It has solid residential with generations of families who remain yet is welcoming to new residents; you feel like just all of the city is familiar to you as the block you grew up on. It has had good services, amenities including its' walkability and access to shopping, medical care and Lakewood fiercely loves and protects its' libraries and parks. The city has also always been know for safety and this is very important to retain as is code enforcement of residential and commercial. Strong community standards helped with the cohesiveness of the city; everyone knows what is acceptable behavior and what isn't and people are not confrontational but not tolerant of bad behavior.
